
Making Bathroom Heaters That Don’t Blind You
When we’re building infrared lamps for the bathroom, the biggest headache isn’t actually the water—it’s the light. Most standard short-wave IR lamps are basically spotlights. They put out a harsh, blinding glare that’s just too much for the eyes, especially if you’re bathing a baby. Nobody wants a heat lamp that feels like an interrogation light. So, we changed how the light works.
Saving Your Eyes
We put a special coating on the quartz glass to act as a filter. It blocks out that aggressive white and blue light but lets the actual heat through. Here’s the trade-off: when you filter the light, you lose a tiny bit of that raw heat intensity. But honestly? It’s worth it. You get the warmth you need without feeling like you’re staring into the sun. It’s just a softer, safer experience for everyone in the room.
Fighting the Steam
Bathrooms are absolute torture for electronics. Between the steam and the splashes, things rust fast. To stop that from happening, we use IP-rated seals to keep the guts of the heater dry. We also use high-purity quartz glass because it doesn’t crack when it goes from ice-cold to scorching hot in a few seconds. And the connectors? We use gold or nickel plating. If you use cheap metals, the humidity eats them alive, and the whole thing burns out in a few months. We’re not doing that.
Getting it Set Up
These are designed to just slide right into your existing fixtures. One thing to keep in mind: since we use that filtered quartz, the heat doesn’t hit “instant” speed like an industrial halogen bulb does. It’s a bit more of a gradual, steady soak. Just double-check that your wiring can handle the wattage, especially during that first warm-up surge. You don’t want your junction box getting too hot. Keep the wiring solid, and you’re good to go.
