There’s nothing more frustrating than a SIG Blomax line grinding to a halt because a heating lamp decided to quit. It kills your OEE and puts everyone in a panic. If you’re seeing lamps pop way too early, you might think it’s a voltage spike. But usually, it’s simpler than that. The quartz just can’t handle the stress at the pinch seal. We got tired of seeing that happen, so we built a reinforced replacement lamp. It fits the KHS/SIG footprint perfectly, but it’s built to actually last. Getting the heat right We didn’t try to reinvent the wheel here. These lamps hit the exact wattage and voltage your Blomax oven expects. The trick is the heat density. You need that rapid energy transfer to soften the PET preforms, but you can’t just crank the power to make up for old, dying lamps. If you do, you’ll likely warp your reflector housings. We kept the OEM electrical specs but tweaked the filament geometry. The result? The heat spreads more evenly across the preform, and your machinery doesn’t take a beating. Tougher quartz, less downtime Most standard lamps fail at the ends. It’s the weakest point. We switched to a reinforced quartz composition that can handle the constant “on-off” thermal cycling of a blow molder. By strengthening the seal and the electrode interface, the lamp can take a punch during those rapid heat-up and cool-down phases. The best part? It’s a drop-in replacement. A quick heads-up Now, “more durable” doesn’t mean “indestructible.” You still have to keep things clean. A few oily fingerprints or a layer of dust on the quartz creates hot spots. That leads to localized stress, and eventually, the lamp will crack. Keep those reflectors clean. And check your cooling fans. If they’re clogged, the ambient heat will soak the lamp and burn it out regardless of how reinforced the quartz is.
