Switching Your Heavy-Duty Ovens to Infrared
We’re on a mission to help kitchens ditch the old gas-fired systems and move toward a cleaner, electric setup. The secret is our infrared (IR) lamps. Instead of wasting time heating up all the air inside the oven, these lamps aim the heat right at the food. It’s a much smarter way to cook, and it’s exactly how you actually make a “green kitchen” work in the real world. Why this heat is different Think about a standard convection oven. It spends a ton of energy just warming up the empty space around your food. It’s wasteful. Our lamps use a tungsten filament inside a high-purity quartz tube. When you flip the switch, the energy moves as radiation. The food just sucks that heat up instantly. No waiting around for the cavity to get hot. You get faster prep times and you aren’t bleeding energy while the oven sits on standby. The gear inside the glass We use quartz glass because it can take a beating. It handles those wild temperature swings without cracking. For the ovens that need some serious power, we add halogen gas into the tube. This keeps the filament from burning out too fast, so the lamps last longer. One quick tip:**keep the glass clean.**If grease or oil splatters onto the tube, it creates “hotspots.” Those spots can cause the glass to fail way sooner than it should. A quick wipe makes a huge difference. Getting them installed These are designed to be drop-in replacements. We used standard connectors, so they should slide right into your existing racks. You won’t need to tear apart your whole electrical chassis just to get them running. But here’s the thing: these tubes put out a massive amount of heat. It’s incredible for searing or fast baking, but it does put a pull on your electrical panel. Before you dive in, double-check your amperage. You also want to make sure your ventilation can keep up with that focused heat. If your cooling fans aren’t up to the task, you might end up frying the electronics on the outside of your oven. It’s worth a quick check now to avoid a headache later.
