Most bathroom heaters use short-wave infrared to get you warm the second you flip the switch. It works great, but there’s a catch: that blinding, harsh glare. When we design these for homes, the goal is to keep the warmth but kill the glare so nobody’s eyes get strained. How we fix the glare We handle this by adding a special coating to the quartz tube. Think of it like a pair of sunglasses for the heater. It blocks the blinding white light and UV rays but lets the heat slide right through. You get the cozy feeling without the “staring into the sun” experience. Inside the tube, we use a halogen-filled cycle. It sounds technical, but it’s basically just a way to keep the filament clean. The gas pushes tungsten deposits back where they belong. This means the heater doesn’t dim or get patchy as it gets older. It just works. The nuts and bolts These units plug right into your standard home outlets. We carefully pick the wattage so you get plenty of heat without blowing a fuse or spiking your electric bill. We also use polished aluminum reflectors. Why? Because we want the heat hitting you, not soaking into your ceiling tiles. It keeps the energy focused exactly where it’s needed. The honest trade-offs Nothing is perfect. Adding that protective coating means the heater takes a tiny bit longer to warm up than a clear tube would. You also lose a sliver of total energy because the coating absorbs a bit of the heat. But honestly? In a bathroom, that’s a trade I’ll make every time. Protecting a child’s eyes is way more important than saving a fraction of a second on warm-up time. One last thing: make sure the fixture has plenty of ventilation. If the heat gets trapped behind the reflector, it’ll cook the socket and kill the lamp way faster than it should. Give it some room to breathe.
